In Paraguay, brick can be many things. Walls, dividers, facades, sieves, vaults, floors, and pavement are just some of the many example that demonstrate, not only the variety of uses for brick, but the ingenuity of the architects who choose to utilize it in their projects.
Thanks to it's low cost, brick is widespread in Paraguayan architecture and is produced en masse throughout the country. Observing it's place in everyday life can be a great source of inspiration and innovation.
In this article, we highlight a chronological selection of 20 brick houses designed by prominent architectural firms: Sergio Fanego + Gabinete de Arquitectura, Javier Corvalán + Laboratorio de Arquitectura, - = + x -, Studio ELGUE, Lukas Fúster, Culata Jovái Group, José Cubilla, OCA, Mínimo Común Arquitectura, ArquitecTava, Arkstudio, and OMCM arquitectos.
